What will it cost? A one page site will cost £75 and that includes hosting for one year. Multiple page sites cost more (typically an extra £20 per page). There’s nothing else to pay.
How do I get a ‘domain name’ We need to register your chosen domain name. I can do that for you (or tell you how to do it). There’s no guarantee that you’ll get the name you first think of - but we’ll find something suitable.
What if I have my own domain name? That’s fine. Once the site is set up, you must arrange for the domain name to ‘point’ to the address I give you.
How do we work together? First of all you give me an idea on what you want. If you see a site you’d like to ‘copy’ that’s fine but I suggest you keep things simple at first. I’ll ask you for the rough text on what you’d like to say and any photos you’d like to use. Ideally you should email these to me as digital images but if that’s a problem, send me photo prints and I’ll scan them. I’ll prepare a rough site (it’ll be 80% close to what you want). You then pay me, I finish the site and off we go.
How often can I ask you to update the site? As often as you’d like (within reason) but my cost planning assumes about once a month. It’s no problem if you’d like a little more than that, but I’ll need to charge you a nominal sum if you want masses of regular updates.
What do I do if I want to cancel or transfer the site elsewhere? No problem. Just tell me and it’s done. Your new web provider will want some transfer information from me - but that’s no problem.
What about the money I’ve paid? The vast majority of the work is done ‘up-front’ and that’s what your first year fee covers. If you feel you’d like a website for six months (just as a trial); I’ll offer that at 60% of my flat fee. The subsequent six months, if you go for it, will cost the same.
